My Pyro
« on: December 21, 2006, 03:37:23 PM »
OK, Storm guys. I have a Pyro I got last year to take to Nationals.  Heard it was an arcing ball.  Drilled pin below the ring, cg swung out.  THS at my home house, a little drier than in the past.  Also I am tracking a little lower on the ball this year, about 2.5 to 3 in from the thumbhole

Besides smelling like a fruit salad, this ball hits like a pillow.  Lots of weak 10's.  Never breaks down a high hit, leaves big splits.  Never blows 5's into 7's, leaves the 7.  All kinds of back row leaves.

Usually Storm balls hit hard for me, but this thing is really disappointing.

Anyone else have the experience?  Any suggestions

It's rolling out. Try adding some more polish.

Try what Joe said - or go with a higher grit and then polish. This ball is fairly strong - but the pin below drilling wants the ball to start up earlier in the lane, which will cause the ball to loose some amount of energy in the first part of the lane which causes the hitting like a pillow type of reaction.

Like Joe said - throw some Polish on the ball - Preferred would be Black Magic XL which adds about 3-4 feet of length, which should make the ball retain more energy in the back.

Grab a different ball from the bag man! Why waist that ball on a condition it is not built for? It's definitely rolling out as previously noted!

Well, early roll energy loss was what I was thinking, but since this is a particle pearl and I have a lower track this year, I thought it might be something else.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Higher grit sanding and more polish sounds like a good plan.
