Help with arsenal
« on: April 13, 2011, 07:54:33 AM »
Was wondering if a 2Fast or 2Furious would be better for my current arsenal.

Prodigy
Victory Road

Had a Tropical Heat orange/purple and didn't care for it. Any help would be great.

If adding to that arsenal, a 2fast for sure. Pretty loaded with strong covered balls, low RG balls. Make sure you drill weaker than your VR, for a pearl, the VR has a lot of midlane. 2fast should be a nice ball down from it, less motion from the N.o.s. core.

You have alot of strong balls in your arsenal no doubt.  I bet you are having the same problem I had when the lanes broke down it's a struggle to keep a ball on the right side of the head pin.    I considered the 2Fast and 2 Furious but I thought they were a touch on the agressive side and I was looking for more back end and less midlane.

After alot of research and feedback on this site I choose the Midnight VIBE by Hammer.  I had it drilled Friday and I threw 12 consecutive games on with my son on Sunday.  I most enjopyed the fact that the lanes had been bowled on all day and I was still able able to stay pretty close to 20 and 10 the whole time as the VIBE did not tear up the lanes.

By the way, close seconds for me were:

- Dark Star (Rotogrip)

- Tropical Heat Pearl (not the Hybrid)

- Motiv QZ2

Search on recent posts linked to my name on this site and you can find the full thread.

Best,

MK

Without knowing how you bowl, what you bowl on and how many centers you bowl in, it will be difficult to give you solid advice, but I'll take a stab at it.

A 2Fast would most likely work better for you than a 2Furious. a 2 Furious is going to be too much like the other bowling balls in your arsenal. You have mostly strong bowling balls in your arsenal, so a 2Fast, Rising Star (Roto Grip), Tropical Heat Hybrid, Freeze (Columbia 300) or a Midnight Vibe (Hammer) .   You may want to consider more than one to make your arsenal a little less "top heavy", especially if you bowling on league shots on a high friction lane surface.

Just out of curiousity, what didn't you like about the Tropical Heat Pearl ?  How was it layed out ?

I agree with the 2Fast.  The 2Furious being a solid is going to be much closer to the Victory Road since it tends to read the midlane earlier than the 2Fast.

Some options to consider with Storm/Roto is the Dark Star.  This would give you a weaker pearl ball that will go longer through the heads/midlane but still react well in the backend.  The Rising Star although a great ball, might still be too close to the Victory Road (it is stronger than both the Riot and Dark Star).   Since you didn't like the Tropical Heat much, you may want to wait for the Tropical Breeze, which is going to be weaker than the Heat.

If looking into other brands, the 900 Global Hook, Columbia Freeze, Hammer Vibe, Track 300C, or Brunswick Slingshot are all viable alternatives.

Thanks for the info guys. I use the same drilling on most my balls. 40x4x40 or in that range as I tend to top the ball and that seems to be the drilling that gives the ball a early roll for me. With my messed up style of bowling which I am working on doesn't match up with weaker balls which is the reason that the Tropical Heat wasn't a favorite of mine.

As strong as your arsenal is, a 2 fast would be the perfect ball to fit under your VR.

I am going to go with the 2fast. Just seems like the right ball to go with. Thanks for the help.
