Bought into the hype

Well I bought into the hype and drilled up a Nano. Got 3 games on it right now, just to get a feel for the ball, and it definitely looks like something special. Punched it up to be another option on heavier shots, and to go a step above my Seismic Aftermath and it looks like it will do just that! Bowled on a 40 foot, pretty heavy volume shot for its "break in" and it was 5-6 boards stronger overall than my Aftermath (which is no slouch), but the best thing was the whole reaction was down-lane for me... the Nano read the mids and made a extremely strong move off the back of the pattern. My only concern right now with it is that in only 3 games I ended up a good 6 boards left of where I started, the ball really seemed to blow the shot up, something I will watch in the future. I also have to admit I am not a big fan of the Orange Mint scent
 
For only having a few games on it already this ball looks like a beast, I never had the chance to get a Virtual Gravity, and now think I might have missed out on something, as the Nano is definitely going to be a favorite on the heavy stuff.

I was under the impression the Nano had no scent.

 

Furthermore, you only moved 6 boards the whole night?  I wish I had that problem.  In my primary house I have to move at the least 10 throughout the night.

If it was league bowling I would understand it more, but it was just open bowling after they laid the shot down, just me on the pair, I have a pretty high rev rate but at this house the volume in the middle will usually hold you in one area all day, so it was pretty uncharacteristic.

Indeed it does, I was misinformed. And yes that is weird knowing it was just you now.  Try it for one night of league(if possible) and let me know.  I'm very interested to hear about it.  Just this past Wednesday in league I used my Anarchy and started at 24 and finished at 38.  Granted it is a lower volume/distance house.

Hmmm, I've never seen a drilling like that in respect to the middle finger in relation to the ring finger... Your middle finger must be longer by quite a bit.  Mine's only about a 1/3rd inch longer...  You've got sort of a sideways bridge there....

Sarge Easter grip. Cuts down on revs. Mike Fagan and others use it.

Sarge Easter grip, also I don't have a bridge per say... rather than having a set distance for a bridge, the Sarge Easter grip creates a bridge just by dropping the ring finger, both my middle and ring finger holes however lie on the center line, there is no created bridge. My driller and I did this after I started to experience discomfort in my ring finger when using the grip with a added bridge, taking it away has relieved all stress in my ring finger.

Im really getting tired of this cave man theology. When these balls are drilled properly and not "clawed" on at the bottom they can be used with great success. Great for blending patterns and controlling the fresh, now if people want to drill them 3 3/8 x 3 3/8  and stand on top of friction and have it peter out at the dots? Well, thats their problem, typically these are the same guys that say the "ball dont hook" or "it hooks too much".

 Ahhh, okay.  My bad, I forgot about the sarge easter... I've heard of it, heard some talk, but never actually saw the layout... Thanks for clearin it up for me...

Wasn't this ball made to handle heavier volumes of oil? Isn't that they reason why you would buy this ball or am I missing something??

Oddballs, I quite frequently use something stronger to even out the lanes. Even with my modest rev rate, I can get away with throwing my Tropical Heat on almost any house shot (or even urethane in some cases). But I quite often find myself throwing something like a Cell or a Prodigy even if there is quite a bit of friction available. A lot of times something with a weaker cover reacts too harshly to friction, but skates in oil so much that I fight an over/under reaction and I tend to leave ringing 10s. Something stronger that really picks up in the oil keeps the ball from jumping as hard off the dry, and gives me a little more drive when I do miss left a hair and need some extra help kicking out the 10. I'm considering punching up a Nano for my summer Team USA Experience league, but I have a feeling it'd also come in handy whenever I feel like I need to move left and play the oil instead of squaring up in the friction in my regular leagues as well.

i can say i have never used a high performance ball on a house shot. the only time i have used a high performance ball on a house shot was an ultimate inferno when i was 12 or 13 years old. other than that the strongest ball i have used on house is a columbia burst

Used the Nano today in league, wasn't sure how it would fair as the house I bowl league in is more a medium shot by volume, and although it has decent length its pretty common for stronger pieces to roll out, although this was not the case for the nano. The ball reaction remained the same even on lighter oil, great length with a ton of backend, still about a arrow stronger than my aftermath, and a good solid 10 boards stronger than my Aftermath Pearl which is drilled the same. So far nothing but good things to say about this ball (scent is the only exception!).
