Nano Tour/Dream On/ Guru comparision
« on: January 25, 2015, 08:13:02 AM »
Looking to buy a new ball that lets me move in and take advantage of the puddle in the middle at the house I bowl at. Extreme wet/dry condition. Currently took my Fusion down to 1000 grit to try and play in. Ball makes it back to pocket but just doesn't hit like it did when it was OOB. By the 3rd game I can go to my Hyroad Pearl but skids way too long until shot breaks down a bit. The 3 balls I mentioned above all seem like good choices to help me kick out the 10's early in the night. I would like to know if any of you have thrown these balls and what are the differences. Looking for a decent mid lane roll with enough of a backend to let me get in and still carry the 10's. Thanks ahead of time.

I can not comment on the Nano Tour or Dream on, as I have no experience with them. The Guru is a very good ball and will do what you're looking for. The core is so versatile, you can really get the shape and ball motion you're looking for with it.  I know you didn't mention it, but the new DV8 Thug Unruly is a fantastic ball. It'll handle oil and has a lot of backend reaction. It would allow you to use it with ease. I know the Nano Tour is symmetrical and the Guru is asymmetrical . . . the Guru will be stronger than the Nano Tour.

Hard to say when I'm just making a guess based on limited information but I would go with the Dream on. It's plenty strong enough and should store the most energy down lane which should help get the corners out better as u get deeper. Balls like the Guru are generally extremely condition specific and need a true flood in the heads to read the lane properly. They have their place but in general it won't be used to get deep on THS for most styles. I've seen a good amount of the iq nano and it's seemed best for speed dominant bowlers who need help getting the ball going as well. The people I've seen trying to get in a hook it have left me unimpressed. While the Dream On has looked really good from inside angles to me.

Idk all signs point to the guru being the best on the market! The staffers say so! And the videos prove it, you know the ones where they compare it to balls that are not on the same planet as the guru like the badass.

Dream on, or if you need a smoother move off the dry, Moxie.

That video is all relative. I put zero stock into a video of that kind. I went to a Morich demo once with the DestroyR and the HookR featured. Mo put out a heavy oil shot and i threw them both against my other equipment. I absolutely couldn't miss with either the Morich balls. They read the lane perfect and covered as many boards as i wanted them to. While almost everything i owned squirted and rolled terrible. Got home decided to drill them both. Ended up being 2 of the most unusable balls I've  ever owned. I got them on numerous shots in my area and they didn't look good on a single one urethane hooked more and hit harder. It was common to leave 8/10s 5/10s etc with them. Just too much ball for nearly any shot i might ever see. From what I've seen of the Guru it's not much different.....might fit a few styles and a few conditions but not very usable on typical conditions....

I will disagree with most of what has been said regarding the Guru.  What makes the ball special is its ability to hook early enough to make the corner but late enough even on conditions with less volume that it still has some energy retention left.  The Guru will handle heavier oil well but does so by making a bigger move down the lane.  Energy retention is what makes the Guru special compared to its counterparts and that is what the cats data in the videos show.

Bingo, and very nicely said. I've owned a lot of oilers, and the Guru stands out among them all.

And there is something else to consider. The Hyper Cell (HC) is a good oil ball when new, but like the original Cell, be thankful if you can get 50 games of good life. The Guru will be be hooking away long after you've done everything you can to bring the reaction back to the HC.

The story of a ball is more than what it does right after you punch holes in it.

So much love, from the Brunswick staffer. I have thrown 4 different Guru's with varying layouts, and all 4 roll like my Pitch Black. On anything other than 45 ft. Then it rolls like my Tropical Heat. Outside of ignorance in my area, only staffers throw them. As most know that they aren't usable on most conditions. It's a typical Mo ball. And we all know how MoRich was doing a few years ago.

Mo's high end equipment has it's place, it's just not on most THS for most bowlers.....not saying there aren't exceptions but in general they just don't cut it.....That being said best thing he ever did was team up with Phil cause Phil tamed a little bit of that strong cover love that Mo has.
