Tuning the Rapid Fire's cover
« on: July 26, 2009, 07:37:54 AM »
Anybody have any experience adjusting the Rapid Fire Solid's cover?  I was thinking about trying 4000 abralon (no polish) to give it more length and less snap on the back (my T-Road Pearl OOB does just fine it that department).  Any suggestions?

Thanks

I have had Rapid Fire at box, 4000, and 2000.  At box it is a pretty flippy solid, at 4000 it is a bit less and at 2000 it is a great smooth ball.  I agree that if you have a T-Road Pearl at box a box Rapid Fire is close.  I wouldn't hesitate to change to either 4000 or 2000.

I have had the most success on the largest variety of conditions with mine at 2000 abralon. My pin is under my bridge, 5" from my PAP, so the 2000 keeps it long and calm.

I love mine at 4000 abralon. Don't hesitate to try it.

Thanks, I think I'll take it down to 2000 first and see how it does.

The ball has a "negative pin" layout, so it already gives me a lot of length.  But I am surprised at how much it still snaps off the dry, and I want to tame it even further for playing a down-and-in line.

Here's a pic of the layout:  http://picasaweb.google.com/dougbloch/DropBox?authkey=Gv1sRgCMLCvOHE_rubEg#5354681034871687298
