Hy-Road coverstock VS. Sure Fire coverstock
« on: February 26, 2009, 02:21:25 PM »
I love the ( R2S hybrid)coverstock on my Sure Fire and read that the Hy-Road is supposed to be stronger. However, in the 14 lb. balls the Sure Fire has a RG diff. of 0.42 and the Hy-Road only has 0.38.

Unless the coverstock is "fomulated" differently, shouldn't the HY-Road be "weaker"?

This just is my thoughts but between the two coverstocks since they say it is the same. I feel that that sure fire is more solid then pearl and the same can be said about the hyroad but that is my idea.

I question this on here weeks back when the hy road came out and riggs said the cover is not the same as the surefire.

The Hy-Road coverstock is the updated version of R2S (R2X). This alone will make it stronger as the coverstock is more aggressive than the Sure Fire's cover. The difference in the differential numbers is so minute, we are talking maybe one less flare ring.

Length = surface or coverstock
Motion = layout

I loved my Surefire and thought it fit my game better than the Hy-Road. I could make surface changes and really see the difference. The Hy-Road for me was not that noticable and slower off the spot for me.

i have both, dilled the exact same way. pin and cg stacked on grip line, pin up...(same pin dis and top weight) the surefire likes fresher backends. the hy-road like the carry-down..

I did not like my sure fire at all. I do not think that cover matched well with that core at all or at least not for me. The thunder core matches up better with this core than the other INHO at least for me!

I did not like my Surefire until I re-drilled it pin above bridge and with more axis tilt( cocked wrist release).

Thanks for all your help so far. Still kind of confusing.......
