It's Time...Virtual Gravity Time
« on: June 05, 2009, 06:52:26 AM »
Hey Guys,

So, last week was the 2nd week of my PBA experience league.  My ever ever ever faithful Paradigm Passion has finally shown signs of age, use, wear and tear.  I was trying to play a line with a little belly, standing on 9, looking at 7 at the arrows, and it just could cut it anymore.  Every straight up the boards, it'll hook, but it just can't do what the new stuff does.  Compared to my Dimension, it's basically an identical look, but it just peters out in the pocket and left some serious pocket nonsense.

While I morn the slight death of my Passion (I've bathed it, baked it in a Rejuvinator, and all sorts of everything), I rejoice in the fact that I have to buy a new ball

I'm thinking a Virtual Gravity, mainly because I love the original G. Shift so much.  As far as a drill goes, I'm undecided one this.  The look I'm going for is to compliment my Dimension.  The Dimension owns straight up the boards, has a little trouble with a belly, and a LOT of trouble with a big belly.  From what I've seen, the Virtual reacts harder to friction, and that's what I want to see on more oil where my G. Shift is just not enough ball.  My PAP is 4.5 > and 3/8 ^, with a staggering 265 RPMS.  Should I do a like, 5 x 5 pin under, or a 4.5 x 4.5 pin up?  I'm not sure which would give me a better look off the dry on heavy/longer oil, which is basically the only reason I'm getting it.

What do you guys think?

Let me preface this by saying I don't own the VG but have read in a few places that you should drill it strong because some people that put medium or weaker drills didn't like the reactions they ended with.  You want it to be strong off friction in long/heavy i would look more 4.5x4.5 pin up my .02

I had a Virtual Gravity that got stolen by dynothane 300 on here, aka George Pierce of Attica, NY.

The ball was drilled pin over bridge with cg in middle of palm and mass bias under the thumb. The ball was polished when I got it used. This ball had a very heavy roll for me and a solid backend reaction. It was not overly aggressive on the backend which is good because the midlane was so strong and controlled.

I'd love to try another one but I seriously doubt I'll find a condition locally where I need my than my current league bag of 2 Playmakers, BuzzBomb, Nebula and Evolution.

Thanks for the feedback McFarland, I will keep that in mind.

I'm sorry to hear about your VG Doug, that's truly unfortunate.  The reaction you mentioned is exactly what I'm looking for.  I will keep this in mind come purchase day.
