Need for an Invasion
« on: May 23, 2010, 04:05:02 PM »
I bowl alot on sport/PBA patterns and was thinking about getting an Invasion, but I'm not sure if I really need one.  I have two Mutant Cell's and love them both on the long/heavy patterns.  Mutant #1 is a 5 x 3 pin down drilling with factory finish to be smooth and predictable on the fresh backends.  Mutant #2 is drilled 4 1/2 x 5 pin up at 4000 to give more length and angle in the carrydown.  There has been a few times when I could have used something a little stronger because the backends on the long/heavy patters can become pretty soupy, but usally made due with what I had.  With this setup would an Invasion be worth the money?

I would say no.  I have no real reasoning besides from what I've seen of the Invasion, if the Mutant Cells are handling it, the Invasion wouldn't give you that much different of a look.  I'm probably wrong.

I have both and on oil my invasion is way stronger in almost every aspect...its always first outta the bag and is usually the only one in my bag that give me a decent look that's pretty predictable house to house
In the bag [Infinite Physix, Volatility Torque, Night Road, Phaze III, Burner Solid, Hustle AU]
*Now Testing* IQ Ruby, Renevant, another IQ Tour solid
Coming soon...???

Storm_fan,

Try applying a bit more surface to MC#2 first.  Yes, it may go longer than the first one, but your pin up one will react faster once it hits friction.

So your saying to take it back down to something like factory?

That's a good starting point.  If you're not getting what you're looking for, take it down further.  A couple of surface adjustments is much cheaper than buying a relatively similar ball that you may not even need.

Thanks.  Thats another thing I was thinking about.  I haven't thrown an Invasion yet so I don't even know how similar it is to the Mutant and Virtual Gravity.

I have found(with the idea of same layout and surface) the Invasion to be earlier and smoother rolling by about 2 boards than the VG, the same about comparing the VG to the MC.  However, one thing is consistant with all three-they definitely need good head oil-hell oil period.

Oh I know because I see that even with my Mutant or VG.  Thats what gets me seeing people use these balls on house shots.  I have seen house patterns before where you could use them, but very seldom.  I talked to a friend on mine and he said to do away with Mutant #2 and get an Invasion.  He said it will handle the carrydown a lot better by getting out the corner pins.  He uses 2 Invasions, one with a strong roll with surface and the other with just a touch of polish at 2000 and a higher flaring layout.
