My Tropical Storm Cracked :(
« on: June 29, 2006, 04:35:29 AM »
I love my Tropical Storm...sadly it's off to bowling ball heaven.  The bridge cracked...so I popped out the grips and it's cracked down into the finger holes...so sad...I would pick up a new one, but I haven't even had the ball that long...and I feel like I threw away $100

So long my Yellowish Green, Lemon Lime smelling friend....so long.

On a positive note..I found a couple of older balls NIB....and I'm PUMPED!

Does anyone want to guess what plant this ball was made at?

Have the pro shop plug and redrill the whole area.  That will re-fill in the bridge part.  They can color match too.  That way, you are not throwing away $100.

If it is only a hair crack between the finger holes, it is not serious at all. Cosmetical, and it happens fast when there is not much distance between the holes or you get a hit just between them on the ball rack.

Just keep an eye on it. Once the crack starts to spread and chunks around the holes, then I'd either try some super glue, or go dierctly to a pro shop to drill the unstable area out and have it plugged.

A "real" damage would be a true filler/coverstock separation in that area, but then the ball would sound somewhat hollow.

well, if the crack is spread down into the finger holes, then eventually it will spread out even more.  I dont think he's talking about a chip in the bridge, i think he's talking about a hairline (or bigger) crack that can eventually lead to more damage.

Or, maybe he wants a new ball?

If you really feel like blowing the money, buy a new ball.  If not...

The pro shop can drill that spot out and then plug and redrill your holes and reinsert the grips.  When it is plugged you probably won't even notice the difference because your finger holes are going around it.

I've repaired cracks on balls extending 3-4 inches from the finger holes that the people are still rolling 2 years later with no problem. A good pro shop can repair and color match the ball with no problem and no change in reaction

your best bet is to plug it NOW before it cracks anymore.

In order for the warranty to be in effect the bridge must be 1/4" thick and there cannot be inserts in the ball.
