Replacing Columbia Balls for Storm
« on: November 04, 2010, 03:11:42 AM »
Hey Storm Experts,

I have been bowling for 40 years.  I used to be pretty good at one point, but the older I get the more physical problems I encounter.  I have Carpal Tunnel in my right wrist and hand that I am getting surgery on 12-17.  I have a very bad arthritic left knee that the specialist said probably came from bolwing all these years.  Consequently, I have to be more conscious of standing straighter up and not bending so much at the knees, plus I wear a wrist brace right now for my carpal tunnel.  About 2 years ago I was still averaging around 205, last year was around 200 until the last 4 weeks of the season and then could hardly break 180. Bowled in a summer league and average about 180.  I had just lost it.

Also, about 3 years ago a couple of friends said I should go to all Columbia Equipment because it got through the heads good and finished hard on the back end. Skid / Flip. So I basically replace most of my Storm and Hammer equipment with Columbia.  Somewhere in here by going to Columbia stuff it made me to have to be more accurate in hitting a mark.  With my physical problems this is not a good thing, I need a consistent rolling ball that finishes hard through the pins.  I am low rev player that throws about 13.5 to 14.5 mph.  So I believe part of my average downturn was going with all Columbia stuff.

So a couple of weeks ago after averaging 178 for the first 6 weeks of bolwing I decided to go back to Storm.  So I bought the Anarchy and Virtual Gravity drilled them both with 4x5x1.  Wow!!! What a difference a ball does make, I have upped my average to about 190 the last two weeks, but I am still trying to get used to how hard these balls drive through the back ends.  I am looking for some advice on what to replace the rest of my Columbia balls with for a complete Storm Arsenal.

I currently have the following balls:
Columbia Bedlam
Columtia Loud Noize
Columbia Cool Noize
Columbia Freeze
Columbia Pure Swing
Columbia Momentum Swing
Columbia Arch Rival
Hammer Razyr
Raw Hammer Burn
Columbia Power Drive
Storm Dimension

I gave the Pure Swing and Momentum Swing to my friend who is the bowling coach at my old high school, since I bought the Anarchy and Virtual Gravity.

I would like to get down to no more then 7 balls and hopefully 6.  Locker rental is killing me for 11 balls.  So you guys make the suggestions on what other storm equipment I need for a complete Storm arsenal please.

Thanks,
