For me the Hot Rod was too strong for dry lanes.I found it worked better on med/dry with good backends.Definately needed some oil.
Sonic X pearl is a much better choice for dry.

it is a good dry lane ball for me. i drilled it with the pin above the ring finger and the cg right below it. works well.

I doubt very highly this ball is good for DRY lanes !  It's a stronger ball than most think based soley on reading responses on the ball when it first came out. (StormLefty)

And, as always, it depends on what DRY is ??

It will work on drier conditions...but it's definately TOO STRONG for a true dry shot.  Obviously it would depend on your style, hand release, etc. though.

Wrobes, I have one and have drilled it twice, and still no luck for DRY lanes.  If the heads are dry then the ball will move too early, it needs a little oil to get down the lane, and thats with pin ove the finger and MB on my PAP. I find it best for when the backends are BOOMING and you need a ball that won't over react.  I bought a glowing amulet, now thats a Dry Lane ball and it even hits like a Monster. Deoending on your style you might wanna look into a pearl urethane.
