Fast....2" pin to pap layout..please help...Britton?
« on: June 23, 2009, 06:41:31 PM »
I really like the way Britton's Fast with the 2 x 4 rolls. I just picked up a Furious and love it. I bowl at a house that has older wood lanes with a lot of friction. With myself being a high tracker 5 1/2 over 1/4 up could i get away with a layout like that. There are a lot of guy's scoring out there playing way out with much less hand than me. I wanna be able to get out there too, but everything i currently have is just too strong even with less hand. I am basically asking would i have any issues with clipping my finger holes with a layout like that because of my high track? Any help or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Layout shoudl work, but keep in mind that such a layout get the ball into a very early and smooth roll. While you tame down over/under reactions, a high friction environment could cause problems unless you have both decent speed and revs. Clipping the thumb or fingers shouls also not be a problem.

I had up a Power Groove Particle with a simlar layout drilled up a couple of weeks ago (see my review for impressions and a film in the respective section, my PAP is 5" over and 7/8" up, 14mpfh and 250-300 RPM), and I must say that such a layout is a great option for down and in shots close to the gutter, and when ridden lanes rear their ugly head. Very rolly, smooth, and no flip at all, no matter how much excess power I use.

rotostorm...you should be fine as far as tracking issues as long as you keep the pin above the finger to pap line.  My PAP is 5 3/4> 3/4^ and I have no problems throwing this layout.  I currently have it (similar not exact) in a Mars and a Cherry Vibe and at one time had a Rapid Fire with it.  It can be a very condition specific layout, especially for me, since it gets the ball into a strong roll early.  I would try it in an old ball first just to make sure you like it before drilling a new one.
