Layout shoudl work, but keep in mind that such a layout get the ball into a very early and smooth roll. While you tame down over/under reactions, a high friction environment could cause problems unless you have both decent speed and revs. Clipping the thumb or fingers shouls also not be a problem.
I had up a Power Groove Particle with a simlar layout drilled up a couple of weeks ago (see my review for impressions and a film in the respective section, my PAP is 5" over and 7/8" up, 14mpfh and 250-300 RPM), and I must say that such a layout is a great option for down and in shots close to the gutter, and when ridden lanes rear their ugly head. Very rolly, smooth, and no flip at all, no matter how much excess power I use.
