Title: New balls
Post by: C_J on September 14, 2004, 10:30:26 AM
I just got my Ace and Hot Rod Pearl in the mail today. I am going to drill them this week. I will let you guys and gals know what they do just as soon as I get them drilled and put about 20 games on each. I can tell you the Pearl is Silver/Aqua. It comes with a factory finish of 1500 Grit-polish. The ACE is Yellow/Red/Aqua with a Wintergreen fragrance. It also comes with a 1500 Grit-polish. If ya'll don't like the way these balls roll for you, don't worry because at least these two look WAY COOL!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the update CJ, these balls are sounding pretty cool.  I really like the way the Ace is sounding.

And since there's no picture of the core, and the specs are virtually identical,
the Ace differs from the original X-Factor how????

It has the TRIPLE X Core (RAD 3) and a pearl particle Monsoon coverstock.

I'm interested in this ball, I just don't see how a Pearl Particle can yield a sharper angle than a pearl resin.  I'm guessing this is a very low load of particle huh?  I just got a completely new 5 ball arsenal with my only Pearl being a very tame Blazing Inferno, I'm going to need a stronger one.  Since I have two hot wires coming in, I think a strong Storm pearl may do the trick.  I was going to go with Triple X, but I think I'll wait and see what the consesous is on this one when it drops.

P.S. Wasn't the Reloaded supposed to have a killer backend reaction as well?  We all know how smooth and rolly that ball was.

Ok guys: I just threw the ACE. Dino drilled it for me at Don Carter West. The first shot I threw I left the 8-10, then 7-10, wrap 10, over the top 10, and then solid 8. I had Del Ballard laughing at me on his practice pair. I was like WOW!!!! Pat Healey was open bowling to the left of me and came and looked at the ball and then I threw the next 8 and went and worked out my grips with some acetone and then shot 289 with it the next game. Like Pat and Del said it takes about a game to get the factory finish off of it before it starts hitting good. Let me tell you, this ball was very tame and came back from everywhere. In my opinion better than the Re-Charge that I had drilled. I just didn't drill the Re-charge aggressive enough. I am going to use this ball in league tonight because it looked so good. All in all I give this ball after throwing it 10 games a solid "A". Really smooth. I could play up 10 or move in and there was no jerk reaction, just a very firm hook into the 1-3. I actually had a few bird dogs also. Dino was drilling the Hot Rod pearl for me but I had to leave to get a haircut but I will pick it up before league tonight and throw it after and let ya'll know what that ball does. But seriously, I like the ACE!!!!!!!

Im excited to see these! The ace does look promising to me! It still cracks me up with the names of these balls though. The next 2 are gonna be the Triple Sexxx Factor and the DisCharge!

The Hot Rod Pearl really shoots down the lane. Skids pretty good and then it HOOKS!!!!!  I was pretty aggressive with it meaning throwing it hard and with alot of turn and it would shoot for about 40 feet and then left turn clyde. I drilled it straight up. 16 lb. 3-3.5 pin. 3.12 top weight. My go to layout meaning I control the ball and it won't get me into any mistakes. Pushes and then flips. Looks like I now have two new balls that I will put in my arsenal. We will see how good they do at the regional this weekend. Good luck to all.

Just drilled my ACE last night and went out an threw it.
5" pin up RAD Strong. The letter from storm says its Accutread Pearl Particle where I was previously told its was Monsoon Pearl Particle. My bad.
Took the factory Shine off and put my own on that most of the time eliminates the "Burn In" time that C_J talks about.

Any way it does clear the heads pretty cleanly similiar to my Depth Charge and pick up nicely in the midlane with a pretty nice backend reaction and hits like a truck. More angular than my Recharges which i was surprised by a particle. I loved the Reloads and their versatility with shine and length control.
I only bowled 4 games with it (nothing less than 230) and was inside of 20 as it was after a league shift on older wood lanes that had been resurface. Will try to use it at a tournament this weekend on Synthetics and report back here also.

Will be drilling my Hot ROD PS Pearl tonight.
Will give better reports and reviews hopefully by Monday.
