Shift and Domination
« on: July 21, 2007, 03:57:21 PM »
I love my Shift. Great, predictable strong reaction. I was thinking of picking up the Domination, thinking that the particle pearl Shift would be slightly stronger (handle more oil) than the Domination.

However, after reviewing BTM and Storm's site, both concur that the Domination handles more oil than the Shift! I was surprised, given both pearls but Shift had particle.

I'm assuming that the Reactor coverstock MUST be stronger than the R2S (even with particle) or the RAD+ core is MUCH stronger than the Shape-Lock. I would normally think that it would be the coverstock, as both are 1500 polish, but because of the particle I am a little confused here as to why the Domination handles more oil than the Shift.

Anyone have any opinions on this?

Bowlers Journal stated:

The Shift can handle heavier volumes than the Domination, yet has a similarly strong move at the breakpoint.

BTM has the hook rating slightly higher for the Dom, and I noticed the it's a lower RG ball compared to the shift which is a med Rg ball.  Just from the description, it would appear that they have different rolling characteristics.

The Dom seems too one dimensional when compare to the shift.  My coverstock is tweaked, and it provides a different look than OOB finish.  I am not too afraid of oil with this ball.   And staying up the back with speed it can be used on lighter patterns. I just wouldn't use it on a heavier oil pattern.  I don't know if the reactor coverstock is stronger than the R2S coverstocks but the T-road pearl/solid seem to provide quite a bit of back end.  I do have an x-factor, and I think that's a reactor coverstock, and it moves but not as strongly as the shift.
