Title: New Equipment
Post by: Zman on July 31, 2004, 11:04:58 AM
I've been out of the loop far too long. If someone could help it would be appreciated.

What is similar to the old original El Nino that is out now ?
Reactive cover. RG was I believe 2.55 and Differential around 0.046 ?

The Barbed Wire looks similar to me. Any other suggestions ?

Hi. I'm new here. I've been drinking. It probably should read I'm nude here.
New. Nude. What's the difference ?

Barbed Wire is pretty weak, especially for mega fluffers

El Nino is 2.49, 0.055 from BBR.

I would think maybe something something like the XXX Xtreme X-Factor (2.52, 0.055 ) would be close.  Maybe the Super Charge (2.46, 0.050) or Eraser Particle Pearl (2.54, 0.050).

ten - Thanks but I still have my original El Nino and a second that isn't as strong due the pin location. But, If I could find an original NIB, drool.

Mega Fluffer ? I prefer rev challenged.
Thanks but, no Pearls. Even I get over/under reaction from Pearls.
I hated the El Nino Pearl.
Hmm XXX Extreme X-Factor may be the way to go.

My Sonic X Solid works on this shot but, something with a little more back end would carry better.

My 2 cents:

There's a world of ball reactions between the Sonic X solid, a relatively weak cover solid, and the Xtreme X-Factor, one of the strongest resins balls made today. May I suggest a more medium ball like the Depth Charge or the Super Charge? Both might be equivalent to your El Nino. Because the DC is a particle pearl, it is much stronger than resin pearls, yet not as long as them. It is intended for more medium oil conditions, kind of like your El Nino (unless you've sanded it) is on today's oil. The DC is fairly early revving, as it has a very low RG and a high RG differential, which makes it very continuous. It seems to have many fans. The SC is closer to the idea of the EN, beign solid resin, low RG (around 2.45) and having a high RG differential for a lot of flare.

The Xtreme would handle the same amount of oil on today's patterns, as the El Nino did in its day; so you might think of them as equivalent in their own time periods. The Depth Charge or the SUper Charge might be closer to duplicating the EN. The DC will go longer and the SC will hook earlier, unless you modify the covers.
