Code Black OOB surface
« on: August 17, 2017, 01:19:56 PM »
Infamous 1500, polish. Should I just go ahead and go with 3000, even before it gets drilled. I will eventually resurface to 3000 anyway since past experience has proven to me that is where I like the pearl surface.

Best move when you get a new ball is to sand it with your favorite surface before you ever roll it.

You can never duplicate the OOB exactly, So put a surface on there you know you can repeat yourself. Even if it's your version of the OOB.

That way you don't fall in love with a surface and reaction you can't copy.

This. No shame in not liking OOB. Hope to hear how it goes!

Did I ever mention I hate 1500 polished? Change it asap!

I dread getting a ball at 1500; Instant change as soon as my ball arrives.  ;)

I know this is a old thread but I have a question. I just traded a brand new widow spare for a brand new code black (both balls have 3 games, also I wasn't going to be a fool and let that deal go). I was thinking of taking it to 1000 polish

I would recommend changing it to 1000 polished

Guess I am in the minority here but I kept mine at OOB and after a few game break in I absolutely love it.

I always try OOB first. Eventually use will change it, and then I start experimenting. No real reason to not try 3-4 series with it first for fun.

Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III

I'm always split on this one..... Never been a fan of OOB finishes (mostly 1500 polish)  as the reactions have mostly been squirty,  However, it's always certain balls that the finish is spot on for that desired reaction.

It's all about understanding the conditions you bowl on, being familiar with all finishes (and polishes) and you own game to determine rather to use the box finish, or adjust the surface.

1500 finish grits will AUTOMATICALLY get adjusted no matter what ;   Your not the only opponent to 1500 doom.  ;D
