does your proshop have the Paradigm in?
« on: November 28, 2005, 11:51:23 AM »
Mine does. They want $220 which is a really good price considering the other High performance stuff like Vertigo, ace, and the inferno line from brunswick is $210. And they ae throwing in the lifts and the thumb slug in for free!(normaly $5/ea for lifts and $15 for thumb slug) so its a H@ll of a deal!

Nope... While he would order one for someone if they requested it, the head driller at my shop just wasn't that impressed with the ball.  Keep in mind that this guy follows Mo-Rich and Track pretty heavily though.

He did like the Vertigo though, so who knows...

highway robbery either way you look at it.  I like my proshop guy he has a motto that he will never have a bowling ball over 200.  Since I have gone to him for the past five years he has done just that every ball that comes out will never be at 200 dollars.  THATS DRILLING SLUG, AND GRIPS.  THAT IS WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THAT PROSHOP.  Makes it worth travelling five hours for my equipment, partly to see the family but also getting the new equipment

You guys dont know how good you have it over there. You wouldn't be able to bowl if you lived in the UK. A Paradigm here costs me ( and this is a guy who keeps his prices down for regulars) Wait for it...............$320. So think yourselves lucky.

here is was will get you scratching your head.  This ball at the local proshop where I currently live the ball run around 290 plus tax.  Now YOU HAVE TO THROW IN if you take the shops sign literally.  Drill finger tip reactive ball (65), lifts 15 dollars, thumb slug 20, so lets see how this sits with someones wallet.  BALL=290,LIFTS 15,SLUG 20,Drilling 60,  this equals a whole lot of money for no freakin reason.

NMZ - Where is your shop?

Saw - Where is your shop? And I apologize in advance if you've already answered that question somewhere else.

Many of the prices quoted seem high and w/o looking I'd say you're pretty close on our cost Saw. I don't understand how pro shops continue to use old pricing methodologies in today's retail environment. For example, charging someone more to drill a ball they bought somewhere else. How do you justify that to the customer? Labor is labor, it takes the same time and skill to drill a ball no matter where that ball comes from.

I drill balls every single day that weren't bought from me. Where do they come from? ....The internet, sporting goods store, other pro shops. Why do they come to me to get the drilling? Because they know I'm not going to charge them an arm and a leg just because they didn't buy it from me, I'm not going to preach to them about the evils of the internet or try and make them feel bad because they bought it somewhere else. I give them the same service I give everyone. Once they walk in my door, they are my customer.

I love drilling these balls... I have no money tied up in inventory, the customer is happy because they feel they got a great price on their ball and they got great service from an experienced, pro shop professional.

Just as an fyi, my shop has 3 labor levels; they range from $20 at the bottom to $50 at the top.

$239 drilled, in one shop and $269 drilled in the other (the operator of this shop loves this ball but says that it nor any other ball is worth $270) I say that it is cheaper to buy a Lane 1 which is probably a better ball anyhow....
