Next Ball
« on: September 07, 2007, 02:52:59 AM »
I hgave currently shifted my winter league to a house that i believe has higher friction outside, and a slightly lighter volume of oil. I have a Rival that i will polish but i wanted some pearls as well. I was looking at the Spitfire, T-Road Pearl, Thunderstruck Pearl, and Jolt Pearl as some of my choices. I have a lot of revs and speed. Any insight into these choices and your experience with them would be appreciated... Thanks

I neither have a T-Road Pearl, nor high revs...but last winter I bowled at a high friction house, and a cranker had a T-Road Pearl...that thing had more recovery than is legal, and the ball hits and carries amazingly well. It went long and finishes strong. I actually am drilling myself one up on Monday night.

TRoad Pearl is a good choice, I have one and it controls the wet/dry better than the others you mentioned.  I've tried alot of the storm balls with the Reactor cover (Fired UP, Spit Fire, TStruck Pearl, Domination and Agent)and I've had some trouble with over/under with each one of them on a house shot.  In the 2+ years I've been bowling again, the T Road Pearl is the best ball I've thrown and I've tried many.  I'm thinking of drilling up a second one to complement the one I currently own.  My T-Road is drilled with what I call the "Hand Friendly" drill which places the mass bias under my thumb and the pin 4 to 4.5" from my PAP.   As long as you can find a little head oil somewhere, you'll be fine but with this drill if the heads are fried and loft doesn't work, put it away.  I'm sure with a 5.5" to 6" drill, it would push through drier heads better, which is why I'm thinking of drilling a second one.

Ya i seem to like the 6" plus patterns. I have a lot of hand and anything drilled earlier needs a lot of oil. And i have a good mph on the ball too. Im thinking of polishing that Rival first which would probably give me a similar look to how i was going to drill a Spitfire and my shop has a promising looking T-Road Pearl... I was thinking of a 6 1/2" by 5"-5 1/2" pin down so it still starts up without losing the backend. I dont want it to hit like a cream puff afterall...
