Conventional materials won't provide the density to have any weight in a ball, and likely be quite difficult to make the finished product round.
Could definitely make something happen, but just don't think you'd get a ton of value out of it.
We have played around a bit with 3D printed thumbs this year, been able to get them to come out pretty good, but still more a fun experiment than anything practical.
