New Strike Ball recommandation
« on: February 26, 2008, 04:33:15 AM »
Hi all,

I am looking for a new Strike Ball to replace my dying Black Widow Pearl, my coach suggested me to try with some storm products for it's consistency but I do not know what to look for.  Currently there are 3 balls in mind:

Special Agent
Secret Agent (saw the video of sanding it down to 1000 then polish it up, love it)
Rapid Fire

I played on both House Pattern as well as some PBA Pattern (just recently started), I am a stroker with about 15 mph and low rev.

Thanks all.

The Gravity looks to be very similar, assymetric & pearl coverstock.  Either that or the Agent.

The balls you listed I believe are for more oil & don't have the same backend reaction.  JMO.  Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, LOL.

How did your Black Widow Pearl look on your shot?  Do you like how it originally reacted or are you looking for something that is meant for more oil?  The Secret and Special Agent are best used in some pretty heavy oil.

Thanks for all the input.

My BWP was drilled with pin above ring finger, with the CG kicked out at 45 degree.  I like the ball's action but overtime find it very jumpy / unstable at the backend.  I was looking into something with more consistency and predictable hook, and going to drill it with pretty much the same style as the BWP but pin below finger.

Thanks all.

Well from what hammer equiptment i have thrown, its not consistant at all.  As far as a pearl again goes, i love my gravity shift and its consistant but its not as smooth as my special agent.  I definately love my gravity on the PBA patterns, cant beat it.

I've been bowling with the Secret Agent since last October and just purchased a T-Road Pearl. Both are great strike balls. The thing I like about both balls is that they are very controllable.
When I bought the Secret Agent I was looking for a ball that would hook up in the mid lane and then give me a smooth arc on the back. And I does. (I didn't want another skid/flip ball that slid through the middle and hooked up too late on the back end.)
The T-Road Pearl is still new to me as I've only bowled with it twice, but this ball really hits hard. I just went to the Denny's World Championship. I saw several of the pros carrying and using this ball, so they must also like it.
Hope this helps you.
