New to Storm bowling Product. Looking for a good arsenal
« on: September 21, 2013, 06:22:50 PM »
Looking to build a storm arsenal. I am currently throwing DV8 bowling products and doing well. But after reading plenty of reviews and watch videos of storm bowling product i think storm can take me to the next level.

My current arsenal : Hell Raiser Revenge - Heavy Oil
Nightmare and Brutal Nightmare - Medium to Heavy Oil
Marauder Madness - Medium to Light Oil

My rev rate is around 275 to 300 and speed is about 14 mph.

Thank You

Question first... how good are you at spare shooting? It's not always a ball that will take you to the next level, most of the time it is just tweaks to your current game that allow you to move up (ie. spare shooting, ball layout and surface, speed/tilt)

If you still think moving to Storm products is your best answer, then how many balls would you be looking at carrying?

Going off of your current 4 ball arsenal

I would go

heavy: Marvel-S
med-heavy: Byte, IQ Tour Pearl, Roto-Grip's Defiant Soul, Totally Defiant
med-light: IQ Tour Pearl, Wrecker
light: Lights Out, Roto's Shatter, or if you want weaker go Super Natural

If you're trying to save a little money, i'd even suggest not getting the new Byte and going with 2 IQ Tour Pearls with different layouts and surface to cover your mediums. If that is still on the expensive side you could go with like a Reign of Power for med-heavy and Hyroad Pearl for med-light

With Storm, you can easily build a good arsenal.  But, don't forget about their sister company Roto Grip.  Roto has a great product line and I found that mixing balls from both lines really has given me the best for specific conditions or patterns.

There are some differences between both lines.  Typically Storm will be more skid/snap, whereas Roto Grip tends to favor an earlier read which provides more of a hard arc.  However, both product lines offer a lot for the money, especially in their lower and midrange balls.

If you're looking to build a strong Storm arsenal I would suggest the following:

Sync - heavy oil
IQ Tour Solid - strong but smooth control piece
IQ Tour Pearl- strong pearl
Frantic - house shot killer
Breeze - dry
Ice Storm - plastic for spares
