Finally got a chance to use the Reacta-Wipes towelettes yesterday morning after a good 2 1/2 hour practice session. The tear top was nice because it actually tore right down the perforated line for a clean edge. The press-lock style seal was great also because a little pressure is all that I needed to get an air tight closure.
The first towel I pulled out was nice and wet to the touch. I cleaned up a dull Defiant and was able to get the belt marks and visible dirt right off with light to minimal effort. The towel was still wet enough to touch up a factory surface Fire Road that I had thrown very lightly during the session. This ball had belt marks from a league set three nights ago and cleaned them right off. When finished the cloth was very dirty looking, almost a greyish black color.
This sort of cleaning performance was what I originally had gotten with Turbo Strike Wipes when they first came out. I took some of the singlets and passed them out to customers that we cleaned ball surfaces for regularly to help promote the product. About a year after the initial release, the Turbos just didn't seem as wet and dried quickly. On an ironic note, I pulled out a pack of Turbo Strike Wipes that I had bought about 3 weeks ago to compare to the Reacta-Wipes and the Strike Wipes were dried out completely. I am not sure what happened to Turbo's packaging, but it is not working any more for me.
I get the impression that the Reacta-Wipes will be suited for a person who may not be the biggest ball maintainer around, but the ease to get the wipe out and the potential to do 2 complete balls with one wipe might make this one sell very well. Plus it should be a good cleaner to use until it is time to touch the surface up as it does not leave a residue or shine a dull surface.
