Nano Pearl Review
« on: October 04, 2011, 12:50:37 AM »

PAP – 5.5 over and 7/8 up

MPH – 19

RPM – 500

Due to the aggressive nature of the Nano I have been limited on when I can use it. When I can, the ball is a beast, but many times it is just too aggressive for my rev rate. Lately I have been using the Marvel pearl a lot so I was looking forward to the Nano Pearl to compliment the Marvel Pearl.

I decided to drill the Nano Pearl pin above the bridge with the CG in my palm and the mass bias just to the right of the thumb hole.

I have had the chance to use the Nano Pearl on wood, AMF synthetic and Brunswick synthetic on everything from a flat pattern to a house shot. The Nano Pearl is definitely the most aggressive pearl ball I have ever thrown.

I decided to apply a 4000 abralon pad by hand to knock some of the shine off the ball. I did this to help blend the ball reaction a little as aggressive shiny balls out of the box tend to be too sensitive to the wet/dry boards for me.

In comparison to the Anarchy, the Nano Pearl forced me five boards deeper due to the angle it created down lane. I bowled six games and just kept chasing it left and the Nano Pearl never lost hitting power from the deeper inside angles.   It actually got better during the fifth and sixth games.

This ball is unique and I can’t really compare it to anything Storm has made in the past. If you like the Virtual Gravity and the Nano, you will like the Nano Pearl. For those that didn’t like the Nano because it was too aggressive or too early, the Nano Pearl may be a better choice as it definitely clears the front of the lane easier.

This ball will be ideal for longer heavier patterns that require more angle down lane. It can also be used on medium patterns when you need more length than a solid ball will give you. I think this ball will be more versatile than the Nano or Virtual Gravity due to the pearl in the cover. When I could use the Nano or VG, they were awesome, but many times they were just too early and I needed something that would clear the fronts a little easier, like the Nano Pearl.
