Official Death of X-Factor Line 5/1/2006
« on: May 01, 2006, 07:48:58 AM »
So Storm finally did it... They moved all of the remaining X-Factors to the retired section of their ball page.  For better or worse Storm has been synonymous with X-Factor for the past 4 years and as of today they are officially no more.

The one thing I do find interesting with the current ball line now is that EVERY ball in the Master, Fire, Flash, Hot, and Tropical lines use only the Reactor cover stock.  Unlike the past 5 years or so when Storm used its different blends to provide varied reactions (ACCU-tread, Monsoon, Curelyon, etc.) they now are depending on core changes and cover finish.  Is this the right move?

Probably not.

The Big Hit using the Pro-Glide coverstock is still there for whatever that's worth. (An excellent dry lane ball if you can use resin.)

I think they'd better bring back a version of Accu-Tread or Curelyon, for their own sake ...

Even Brunswick still uses PK 17 and Columbia, Track and AMF use Super-FLex. You can't kill the great coverstocks! Ebonite still uses Tri-Max (somewhere, I think).

its a sad day to see the X-Factor's go but soon enough when the solid version of the agent comes out and the new master line balls a released i think the X-Factors will be missed but not really the ball everyone will pick up now that it is retired, i think they didn't quite do well enough but as sad as i am to see them go (probably the favorite balls i've ever thrown) i do believe the Agent and new master line will be phenominal
