There is nothing wrong with events like the Super Clash, but they certainly aren't for the hard core bowling fan. Then again, that's not who they have those events for. As others have said, they're hoping that the fact that celebs are involved will draw non-bowlers to the TV set and maybe even to the lanes later. I see nothing wrong with it as long as they aren't putting all of their eggs into that basket for promotion. That was one of my biggest complaints when I worked for USBC. A few of the higher ups were obsessed with the idea of using shots of famous people (other athletes, movie stars, etc.) bowling in order to prove that bowling is cool. Bowling will never be cool to the masses, so it's pointless to force that approach. Still, there is nothing wrong with showing crossover events like this one once in a while. Other sports do things like that too.
