Ball Similar to Marvel Pearl
« on: March 11, 2022, 02:27:58 PM »
I am looking for a ball in the Storm, RG or 900 Global line with a similar smooth reaction to the Marvel Pearl. Preferably symmetrical.   I was thinking Spectre or pin under Zen. Thoughts appreciated

I tried to do it with a Zen which for myself seemed  rounder and somewhat stronger overall then I tried a Hyroad Pearl which I thought was a littler cleaner but somewhat close I throw 15 which is huge difference in the Hyroad Pearl after throwing both for awhile the Hyroad Pearl gave me more of a Marvel Pearl feel

Remmah,

Thank you. I use 16 which the hyroads are closer.  I am just not a big fan of RS2. I like something a little earlier and smoother.  I have a pin up Zen which has surface on it. I was thinking a pin down Zen or Spectre but RG #s are about 4 pts higher on the Spectre.

Zen is my pic.

However is If that new pearl idol comes, that might be interesting to compare.

There is a Hustle U-S-A, idol Cosmos, electrify gold orange, a new surge, a dream shift, and  some others approved March 8th...

I think those are coming. The dream core has been in a different line overseas, I think it's coming back stateside to beef up the assym offerings at 900.

Cosmos looks like that idol pro blem that hit the market accidentally....almost honey badger teal looking.

If you're not stuck on SPI, the Web Pearl is closest

Axiom Pearl was close, they’re recently discontinued but you can find them at bowlersmart.com.

My understanding is that the Spectre is very Marvel Pearl-esque.  The R3S is slightly stronger than the R2X while the diff numbers are virtually the same.  With the RG numbers being different; the difference in cover strength basically cancels it out.

Thank you. Any thoughts on the Phaze III as the RG and diff #s are close to the Marvel Pearl.

My thought there is if you are going the Phaze route, maybe the 4 over the 3 simply because the P4 is pearl and the P3 is hybrid.  To get the reactions close, since Marvel is R2X and P4 is R2S; you could do a slightly stronger layout and/or surface adjustment to help the cover dig in a little better.  If the Marvel is at box finish, you do the P4 at 3000 with no polish.  I would think that would get you pretty close. Have to consider this since the Spectre is now currently not available for purchase until further announcements commence.

My son says the Zen Master is almost identical for him. Same layout, maybe a board different down lane. Stronger.

Has both, threw them both same session one after the other.

The III is way stronger off the spot.
