Storm/Roto Grip Arsenal
« on: March 17, 2017, 10:49:29 PM »
Hey all. These past couple months I have been pondering a new arsenal for next high school season. It goes as follows:

Heavy Oil: No Rules Pearl
Benchmark: !Q Tour Solid
Step Under: Hy-Wire
What do you guys think? I'm a speed dominant tweener that currently play down and in, but I want to be able to move deeper inside. Thanks for all feedback.

When I think of speed dominant tweeners the equipment recommendations that come to mind are usually on the stronger, earlier end of the spectrum. Of course a lot depends on the lane conditions being bowled on but for the high school season that's very hard to predict.

What you have listed is a pretty good idea for the lighter-medium overall conditions. If you're expecting more oil I would probably go with the Sure Lock, Dare Devil Trick, and Wreck-Em. Actually the Wreck-Em works for both bags. That's probably a better bet than the Hy-Wire.

I as well like to play down/in if I can. Without seeing you bowl, I may be very similar to your style. What has been working for me on the lanes I bowl on is mainly my Dare Devil and my Defiant Soul's. Depending on how much oil you will see or not will base my opinion's. Since I do not have either No Rules, from what I have seen in league play that the solid is a great ball for more volume, and players with more speed / hand (imo). The DD is really good for medium to medium dry lanes. I can move in with this ball and do not have to worry about it recovering. The Trick looks like it would be a great step up for slightly more volume. You might also consider looking at the Storm Lock, you might find one on close out. The Lock is a great ball, and after making a couple of cover adjustment and polish this ball worked pretty damn good for my style. I suggest that you  discuss all of these options with your pro shop.  I would really consider the Dare Devil. For a solid it depends again how much volume you will see. For higher volumes ,the new Sure Lock will cover that or the No Rules. Or the Dare Devil Trick would also be in the mix as well. For drier lanes I would look at the Wreck em. Now I am not saying that the IQ tour solid or the No Rules pearl are a bad choice. You will need to do some research and I recommend discussing it with your pro shop driller. Bottom line these balls are all good when you need them.
