Ordered a Code Black Today
« on: February 14, 2017, 12:36:59 PM »
Title says it all........time for a new toy!   :P

I've decided on replacing my Snap Lock with the Code Black....

I don't feel like the Snap Lock is a bad ball by any means but I do feel it is a bit condition specific and there is a more optimal motion I can get out of my asymmetrical pearl spot in my arsenal.  Snap Lock has a bit more mid-lane than I'd like here so I'm hoping the R2S cover will help remedy that.  Oh.......and all that diff!  ;D  ;D  ;D

With the Rocket Ship (at a 1000 grit surface), the Eternal Cell (at 2000), Code Black and Hectic I feel like I have a decent variety of motions for the upcoming tournament patterns...

I've seen the CB roll this last weekend and it has my attention. R2S cover is my favorite of Storms. The price is what I can't find myself to "go for it." it's holding me back. Maybe when I start bowling at a different center for leagues with little more volume, I'll get it... or not....will see....

Also, it just seems to need oil to get further down in that bowlers hands I saw this weekend. Maybe he could of moved deeper.

Anyway, good buy, I'm jealous lol

Awesome choice, I love mine. An observation of mine is that it rolls better on synthetics than on wood. Even with a healthy amount of volume on that wood, it sometimes gives me a weird look. But definitely not too weird to where I don't use it almost every week in that house haha.

OOB it goes slightly longer and not as sideways as I thought it would.  It has not become the THS killer I thought it would be for me.

However, I have seen this ball in other people's hands and it truly is a THS killer for them (especially my teammate who has been lights out with this ball).  I would not dissuade anyone from getting this ball based on my experience.  It's a good ball in most people's hands from what I have seen.

Very first thing I'll do (before the very first pitch) is hit it with a fresh 2000 pad and then hit it with Xtra Shine.............I do not do the 1500 polished Storm finish...

At least I'll know which direction to go with surface adjustments (if any) and be able to repeat a surface I like.

Also not happy with this ball! Seems like I never have enough oil to keep the ball from hooking past the head pin!

This is a great ball, I just ordered another one. Love the way it finishes at the deck. Mine is drilled 4" pin up and mb 1" from the thumb, ball just rolls the lane with this layout for me.

Hit the cover with a used 4000 pad just to get the cover a little start.

I read many reviews of the Code Black (which has both coverstock and weight block used in previous balls, neither one or the combination is new) and I decide to instead fill this spot in my bowling bag with the Roto Grip No Rules Pearl instead. Much stronger ball overall.

I don't need to spend $193 for the CODE BLACK drilled and shipped to my doorstep, it's not what I need. I have balls in the bag and in the storage that are all suffice for the conditions I bowl on.

But since I like the R2S cover, since I never tried that core before, and since it takes me less than 4 hrs to make that price. I'm just going to get it for WTFS...

It's rare I can throw it on the fresh, but this ball sure is great for 250+ when they open up a bit and you absolutely have to get left.
