Original Agent
« on: January 17, 2008, 03:04:15 AM »
Ok, question for all you Storm gurus.  I bowl on wood lanes with guardian heads, I am a tweener with about 380 revs speed ranges from 16-18 axis rotation is about 55 deg I am told.  I was interested in getting an Agent for my THS ball but haven't seen many thrown in my area.  My question is, how easily will this ball clear the heads?  I know it has a lower RG and I have heard it is very versatile but I am worried about the heads having too much friction.  I currently have a Special Agent and can throw it at this house but I have to cover alot of boards with it to keep it on the right side of the headpin.  Here is a list of what I have or have had, is there anything that the Agent is similar too in lenght and reaction?

Roto-Neptune
Venus
Epic
Epic Saga
Silver Streak SE

Lane Masters Big R Bang
Big Kahuna

Ebonite TNV

IMO the Agent is darn similar to the Saga.  The Agent will get through the heads just a bit cleaner than the Saga and will give you a slightly stronger move at the breakpoint.  Both will cover similar shot.

That is nice, I really like my Saga and would love something that is slightly cleaner with a stronger move.  One more question, how controlable and continuos is it.  I would think with the low rg it would be a good piece for tournaments with tougher shots.  I used to throw all higher RG balls but they seem to get a little squirty on tougher shots.

I had a bit of a control problem with my Agent initially with the box finish.  I played with the surface a bit and finally settled on 2000 abralon.  I no longer have over/under issues with the ball now.  If friction is an issue you may want to try 4000.

I also have a Special Agent (I keep that ball at 1000) and the real difference with the two balls is that the Agent gets through the heads much cleaner and the Agent stores energy more for it's backend move.

I hope that helps.

Thanks for all the help, how has the cover held up?  I know it is the reactor and the Special has the R2S.  How is the reactor for oil absortion and longevity?

I bought my Agent back in May of 06 and I probably have 200-300 games on it.  I have resurfaced twice over that time.  I'd say it has medium to good longevity.

I have had 3 agents. 5 pin to pap - 4.5 pin to pap 2 inch pin buffer - 4 pin to pap 2 1/2 inch pin buffer.

All of these balls cleared the heads very well. I bowl at a burnt up wood shot, and oily new synthetics. These have always been the first balls out of my bag. With slight hand change you can make this ball do whatever you want.
