where we're headed
« on: June 09, 2006, 12:01:31 AM »
before i get started, let me say i'm just a nobody that has used storm equipment ever since the original thunder series. with that said, i like the direction storm is going.
we lost some business because of the cracking problems with the paradigms. but i think that starting a new thunder line with the reactor cover is a great idea. for those of you that weren't fortunate enough to experience the original thunder series, that line i think is what put storm on the map. every ball in that line was great. i can only hope that the new thunderstrucks roll and perform like the originals.
i also like the idea of using the reactor cover through out the whole lineup of balls. i have a friend who uses nothing but brunswick, he has alot of the infernos. he and i have virtualy the same span, so i've thrown alot of his stuff. the reactor cover to me is very similar to activator. i like the way they are tweaking the reactor cover with the different balls. it's alot like the different versions of activator, storm is just not naming the different variations.
time will tell how good the new stuff is, but i like what they are trying to do! what do you guys think?

quote:
As a Jr. Bowler and my first season of collegiate bowling I threw about 75-80% Storm.  I had all of the El Nino's/Nina's except the El Nino Gold.  The El Nino 2000 is still one of the best balls I've ever thrown.  Both Super Powers were incredible, especially the Pearl.  It was one of the best balls I had for longer flatter conditions.  The Ultra Hot was incredibly strong for an entry level and the Firestorms/Fire Power was all about control which I loved.  The Tour Power and Eraser was awesome as well.

I don't really know what what made me stop throwing Storm.  I know I got a terrible read and finish from the Trauma, Core Powers, Eraser Boost, and Erase-It that made me shy away from the next few years lines.  Two balls I always wanted to throw were the X Factor and X Factor Deuce, but I never got to.  For one I have this sickening phobia of the smell of chocolate to the point where I couldn't even stand to drill up an X-Factor or have it in my bag.  I'd get queasy whenever someone would even have that ball brand new on the rack with mine.  The Hot Wire was probaly the last Storm I threw and I loved it as a Tour Power replacement.

I will give props to the Fired Up.  It looks like the best all around release they've had in quite awhile and I wouldn't mind trying one at all with maybe one ball as a step up from it and one as a step down from it.

If it matters, my X-Factor was about the least potent chocolate scent I've ever been around. You had to literally snort on it to be able to smell it. And even then, about 75 percent of what smell it did have died about a month into me using the ball, even though the ball itself stayed totally potent for two or three whole league seasons.

The smell was basically like a Tootsie Roll, by the way.
