Diablo WOW
« on: September 10, 2005, 09:16:41 PM »
Just saw for the second time a no tap 900.

Friend shot about a 786 in practice matches against his top flite partner.

Used for the majority of the set a Fired up Diablo....very impressive.

Slow speed medium lite revs.  This stroker has to be very careful because of SLOOOOWWWW ball speed say 13 mph...often plays inside but suffers a lot from marginal carry when inside.

Coverstock and rg can lead to burn out very quickly!

For this set he had brought in his Atomic Charge..(revved up very fast and sort of experienced not enough backend for this shot).  Had to be right of Diablo.

Screamin Banshee.  Great matchup also for this bowler but he had to be right of Diablo.

Diablo....Allowed bowler to be inside and go in to out with tremendous continuation and hit.  The in to out loop was loved.  Seemed to reach it's breakpoint faster than Atomic (but still not be revved out) even though it started making it;s return path to the pocket at just over 30 feet.
(will find drilling)

Pattern was about 37 feet and allowed inside play on both sides.

This very good looking ball reminds me a lot of the HAWG but maybe even a touch earlier.  Some similarities to the Super Charge but a more angular backend!

Impressive piece.

PS owner said this particular house was only one where he had such great results but????/  I'll find out more!

I just thought this was one of the most impressive solids with continuation I've ever seen so I wanted to make sure people saw this post!

Hiya.

I've been trying to get a little more information on the Diablo, so thank you for your post.

I've just recently had a Depth Charge take some damage to the bridge, it has been repaired but I don't know how many more games I can get out of it before it cracks again. I've been trying to look for a replacement - barring another Depth Charge, of course - and had the Diablo suggested to me.

The DC is drilled pin under ring with the CG kicked out slightly right (I am right-handed). It's almost always the first ball out of the bag for me, cover is still 1500 box-finish. I like the DC because the low-RG combined with the drilling it has lets it roll up very early but the cover allows it to save enough energy for a very strong arc and good hitting power on most medium-heavyish conditions.

I've really grown to like this particular drilling for my style of game (tweener at best, pretty much "medium" across the board in terms of speed, revs, tilt, etc.) and would probably tend to ask to put such a drill on any new ball I get to replace the DC.

Does your friend have a Depth Charge to go along with the Atomic Charge you mentioned in your original post, or perhaps have a comparison of the DC and Diablo that he wants to share?

Any information anyone may have on this subject, I am very welcome to hear it.
Thanks!

The depth charges I have seen have been duds in my area(low oil volume).

The area I saw the Diablo has more oil!  I am convinced the Diablo would work on my long pattern thin volume lanes and also clearly worked well on the lanes I mentioned!  The Depth charge I HEAR also worked well there but had a more ROUNDED move I was told at the more oily center than the Diablo!

I think the Diablo is a best of breed reactive solid like the Brunswick Nemesis!

I just tried out my Diablo for the first time on a 41 ft. pattern, second shift conditions. I was able to play 14 to 5 with no loss of energy in the out of box condition- I only got in trouble when I leaked it out to the dry too early or I threw the ball a touch fast. Lowest score I had for 4 games was a 208- highest was a 235 with a seven bagger at the end. I left more 8 pins and 9 pins than I did 7 pins with this ball...

Had my Diablo punched up yesterday.  Same set up as my ace to get the different reaction and WOW!!  Able to stand 28 throw across 15 and no problems getting back on standard house 38 ft. x-mas tree..  231 and 205 out of the box..  Slapped a coat of Doc's Magic Elixir on it this morning for my local ABT tournament this afternoon.. I'll post later the reaction!!

Well..  I am impressed with the Diablo!!  Even tho I just shot 213, 206, 203... Tied for the cut and shot 226 in the rolloff and advanced to the match play, but found a pair that didn't match up with anything I had and get drilled!!  Finished 5th today with the Diablo!!  It's a keeper!!!
