Title: Passion - How does it rate?
Post by: Leftyhi-trak on April 18, 2006, 01:20:32 AM
I know this ball had a problem at inception and have heard storm cleared it up. How does everyone like theirs now? We have done up a few around here and people are really loving the reaction? For anyone who might have both how does it compare to the "Big One" by Ebonite or other oilers?

Here's My Review Posted On This Site:

Before drilling ball was 15lbs. 5 oz. with 3.38 oz of TW and a 2.5" Pin. Ball was drilled 4x4 with a balance hole placed 45 degrees out from the Center of Grip and 6" out(it sits about 3-4" right of my ring finger), and the Pin is 1/2" right of ring finger. Ball is very aggressive on my typical house pattern(38" buffed to 45" synthetic)it is currently about 7 boards stronger then my Original Paradigm(4" pin above fingers and Polished) During the 1st 6 games the ball left a total of 9 solid 9 pin leaves and only a couple of 10 pins.
Overall, another excellent ball from Storm, I will post another review later on after the cover tames down a bit or after some coverstock experimenting.

Tweaked the cover a little, wet sanded with 1000 grit and polished with Ebonite Extender Polish. The ball in this condition is still very aggressive, still 4-5 boards stronger than my Paradigm.

I may have found the best finish to compliment this balls coverstock, changed the 1000 grit polish to 800 with just a hint of polish, excellent combonation. This reaction gives me a little bit more of livelier backend reaction.

the ball definately needs oil, on a medium condition, my Paradigm makes it look pretty sad, on med-heavy to heavy, it's and entirely different story and beats the Paradigm hands down.

Thanks Pat had looked already at your review.
I guess I am suprised at the lack of reviews and was trying to flush some more info out. I agree it needs head oil but thats pretty much a given looking at its numbers and cover strength. I have been impressed that in the three that I have seen it has worked equally well for stroker to cranker. It has a nice strong change of direction and hits well yet seems controllable. With the "One" series being very consumer dominant right now its hard to get a feel of overall opinion. Thanks for all input.
