I wouldn't use those on the same conditions though...  Passion is a heavy oil ball, but the Shift is not.

That is what I thought, but someone (at a center that will remain nameless) tried to talk me into getting the Passion instead of the Shift even after I told him that I already have a Infinite One for heavy oil.
Thanks Fluff

Hmm yeah if you already have an Infinite One yeah I am wondering if getting a Passion is all that necessary.  I thought that was Ebonite's heavy oil ball...

The Shift I think would be more of something different I would think.  Maybe someone else can jump in and comment on Infinite Ones vs. Passions.

I have both, huge difference in reaction.  The Passion is by far a more oil ball.  With an IO in your hands though I don't see a need for a passion.  The Shift would fit below your Infinite pretty nicely.  It's got a great back end snap to it, but give it too much oil and it'll slide out on you.  My recommendation is get the Shift, it'll fill in that empty spot in your arsenal.

One thing to consider:  How often do you bowl on heavy oil?  I know I don't need more than one dull ball to do the trick but some people have the hardcore arsenals.

I don't bowl on heavy oil all that much, mainly THS but every now and then the lanes decide to put a little bit more oil than usual some nights. I do bowl in about 2 to 3 tournaments a year so would the Shift be a good pick up?

A Shift would be great for a ths.  It's weaker than a special agent if that's any help.  I am pretty sure the SA is weaker than the PP.

Last night I used it on the viper pattern for two games and while I didn't score as well as could have I found that it will work on that pattern quite nicely.

I would take the factory polish off of it.  It works much better now that it was hit with a 2k abralon pad.
