dimension glossing up quick

Anybody having a problem with their dimension glossing up quick.
i only have 15 gasmes on it.
I have mine @1000 abralon.  Clean it after every 3 games.  

This week i bowled 3 games on monday. cleaned it that night.  I threw few frames with it on sunday.  It now looks like my polished equipment.

I normally do not use the abralon pad after every three.  it looks like i may have to.

Matte balls quickly take on a shine, that's normal. The surface settles after some time, but to keep it a ball at OOB finish you have (theoretically) to sand it lightly every couple of games. It is not an oil absorption or cleaning phenomenon, just pure signs of use - even though performance might change.

I had an X-Factor Re-Loaded some time ago that I kept at 1.000 grit. Great ball with that finish, but it would track out immediately and lose bite, so that I would have had to sand it about every 5 games with it. Sold it, anyway

Using Ab pads to tune your coverstocks to where you want them is something all bowlers should do on a regular basis, along with cleaning.

It is not a "problem" that today's rough coverstocks shine up - it's the nature of the beast.

Here are my observations as I'd like to add to what Jeff/riggs said about abralon pads.

Most of those I know that use abralon on a spinner use the pads to long.  I figure to get exactly the same surface everytime I can ONLY use a pad for 5 times when I do a 6 sided touch up.  I think most folks use them too long.

Example....use a 2000 ab pad for over 5 times say you are up to using it a dozen or more you actually putting a 3000 ab surface instead of the intended 2000 ab surface....ball will also shine up more quickly than intended also.

I agree with both Riggs and Scott. Any dull solid shell will gloss (shine) itself with lane oil. Touching up the cover by hand every 6-9 games with 2000abr is almost a necessity.

I can tell a noticable difference with my Dimension after 3-6 games.  I hit it with a 1000 abralon pad before every set, and throw it it the rejuvinator every 15-30 games.  

Besides all of that, I would vote for it as ball of the year! Just as good from the ditch to 5th arrow!

Thanks for the responses

i was just surprised on how quick it shined up.  

I will hit it with the pad after every 3.  I do a pretty good job of maintaining my equipment.  Ball spinner was one of my best purchases.  

I am pleased with the ball so far.

Mine picks up a glossy look after just a couple games (just like every other sanded solid coverstock ball I have ever thrown), but it doesn't seem to make a very big difference in reaction, surprisingly enough.  I have it lightly hit with fresh 2000 abralon every 15-20 games and barely notice a difference in reaction.

Hmmmm, a couple of weeks ago I got a Brunswick "Twisted Fury Solid" which comes very dull and I also keep it dull, in fact very dull. After bowling a typical 3 game league set the ball is still very dull...nothing like my Dimension.

I have a spinner and I keep up with a high-maintenance cleaning on all of my bowling balls and the only one that shines up after or should I say during the first game is my Dimension.

Also, it lost most of its POP. I have done everything that I know to do and it still is just a mild ball in oil...however, all of my other STORM balls are superb bowling balls, I love my Rapid Fire Soild.

1000 Abralon is pretty dull. If it's shining up after only 3 games, then
1. never wait til that night. All the oil on the cover has been absorbed already. Clean it BEFORE putting it back in the bag.
2. WHat are you using to clean it with? I wonder if it's strong enough.

1000 Abralon should NOT need to be touched up very often. 4000 grit Abralon, yes. Something else is going here. Did you buy this ball new?

when i got mine off of Ebay, the guy claimed to only have 3 games on the ball. I got it and it had very little if any wear on it, but it did look rather glossy for a 2000 abralon finish.

I took it down in grit and used some clean and dull on it. Don't know if it helped, i used it at 2000 abralon after the cleaning. And it I think was burning up, because it was leaving quite a few 10 pins, even when i kept it in the oil. I think that night it was drier than normal.

I have recently took it to 4000 abralon with a coat of magic shine and the ball it alot stronger it seems. Carry has also been alot better.

I NEVER spin my balls with Ab pads unless I actually am resurfacing.  I always do them by hand.  And as Scotts33 said, how old your pad is makes a huge difference in how your surface ends up.
