Storm Thunderstruck Pearl
« on: July 31, 2006, 02:57:19 AM »
So I think I'm going to buy one of these. Does anyone have any experience with this ball? Any reason not to buy? I'm pretty much a tweener all the way around. Anything good or bad to expect with the core/coverstock combo? And, am I reading this right, is this a re-release of this ball? I like the big cherry pearl look. Thanks for any and all replies!

Nah, buy whichever one you want.  I think with the Thunderstruck Pearl not a lot of people have used that one yet because it just came out.  There are too many balls to try!

The Thunderstruck is an awesome ball and this one should just move later.  If you go to Storm's site you can see the difference in reactions.

Thanks Fluff. My other isuue is this, since day one I've bowled with a fingertip (wide-span) grip. There was a thread here not so long ago saying that the fingertip grip is kinda old school and nobody really uses it anymore. So whatever I get, it's going to get the relaxed grip. Sheesh, so much to worry about, new balls, new grip, new season starting soon. I'm worried I'm going to feel like I'm starting over with all these changes, but excited just the same.

finger tip grips?

are you talking about inserts?

or are you talking about having it drilled so just your finger-tips are in the ball?

Sorry, refering to having it drilled with the wide-span. Or conventional vs. fingertip. Not refering to the inserts. I tried a search for the thread about it, no luck.

I don't think the fingertip grip is old school.  I still see most people using it.  Am I missing something?

OK, so you are not talking about conventional grip vs. fingertip.  The thread you referenced is talking about stretched span vs. relaxed span.  IMO the jury has been in on this for a while - get a relaxed span drill.  If your hands are stretched as far as you can go you will eventually have hand or wrist problems.  Go back to your ball driller and have him cut the span back about 1/4".  That will work.
