X-Factor question?

It was recently suggested to me to try a reactive ball sanded by the guy who runs the lanes that I bowl on the most.  He recommended taking a ball to 800 grit.  Has anyone done this to their X-Factor?, & What was the reaction the ball gave you?  I am just a little apprehensive of trying this as I have never had much luck re-polishing a ball back up and not losing any reaction.  Any feedback or suggestions are appreciated.

i have done this to my x-factor.  i didnt care for the reaction i got when it was dull.  it didnt allow me to play as deep inside as i like because it smoothed out the arc and did not finish as hard.  but i am not a down and in player.  when i shined it back up it came back to life.  i just figured out that i need to have a dry spot on the backend for it to move.  and it makes a great turn just like it did before.

It depends on how much hand you have (rev rate) and tilt etc.
I have scuffed the back flares on my X-Factors and gotten good results. Face it you are using an X-Factor most of the time because you need the skid up front and the flip on the back. Scuffing the whole ball will make it read earlier and smoother. If you are having trouble controlling it on the backened its not a bad thing to try. and 800 or grey pad is about a good place to start as any I guess. Not too dull but will surely give you a different look. I would say go for it you can always shine it again. I play with surface all the time.
