I have had the Lock for a couple months, and I demoed the Alpha Crux a couple of weeks ago. Mixed results with the Lock. Didn't like it at all in box condition, took it to 4000 and still didn't like it. Polish on top of 4000, and it became too over under and flippy. Still kept throwing it and as the polish wore off and I ended up at basically 4000 with lane polish I started to like it a lot better. Alpha Crux was of course in box and really made a strong move down lane. I liked the way it transitioned into forward roll which suggests a very good core shell matchup. I think the way most people try to open up the lane on heavier or flatter oil, the alpha crux would be the best choice. In my case I look for something that will store energy while in a forward roll thus giving me hitting power while not trying to over power the longer oil. Interestingly I actually like my Paradox the best on the longer oil, but I suspect the Alpha Crux would also be good.
