Pin size increase?

Has anyone else noticed that at some point Storm enlarged the size of the pins (filled in area) on their bowling balls?  I was curious as to why the change occured?

Anyone have an idea??

Everyone's doing it...
I've also noticed that there are 2 cg marks on Storm equipment too.  One is a small x that I would presume is done prior to engraving.  You can't always see it though.

Morich has been known for larger pins in the past, but I just got a power groove urethane that put all the others to shame. The pin on that ball is bigger than a nickel!! No Sh!t

Rapture, your dumb just strait up, first your post about Scroggins and now this I have had over 25 Storm bowling balls and have not had one crack I have had a couple hammers that have (cherry vibes) and Morich just arnt very good IMO

I know that some of the other companies have started to do the same thing but I don't see the reason behind it.  Just looking for a technical reason / benefit from the change?

Oh and I have seen some VERY large Brunswick pins lately...just weird!

Just guessing, but maybe the newer cores need a stiffer (larger) rod to hold them in position when pouring. Might also cut down on the number of balls that are pro pin and CG blems.

Interesting. I wonder if my next piece will have a giant pin. I wonder if the helps the production guys get pin to CG distances under control, and pin/CG/MB lines straighter.

Interesting concept tj...that might be it?  If so it was a change they made across the board as I've seen some of the older balls in the line-up show up this way (T-Road Pearl, etc.).

drilled some pro-pins lately, the 2 dominations i have, as well as a shift all have larger pins that other stuff. nothing stupid big, but larger than normal

Lets not get to carried away about Walter's bowling ability. After all he's using some of the strongest core/cover combos he can get his hands on to get the 8 boards of movement he's getting.

The PBA should keep using the house patterns, I mean "Garanimals patterns" they lay and make all of them throw plastic. For those that don't know about Garanimals, it's a kids line that has animals representing each line and they allow for easy matching of outfits. Sounds like the patterns if you ask me, see the animal and know where to play. LMAO
