IQ Tour layout?
« on: October 29, 2012, 10:50:41 AM »
Since this is a control type ball, would it be overkill to put a control layout on it?  What type of layout are people having the best luck with?  Strong?  Control?  Weak?  I really want this ball but would like to hear what people are having the best look with.  I bowl in 2 different houses...one synthetic med-heavy THS and one wood med - medium heavy THS which transitions fairly quick.

The IQ Tour, in my opinion is the ultimate control piece. I think the better question is what area of the lane are you trying to control. For a midlane heavy roll more intended for heavier patterns, pin to pap closer to 3-3/8" will get the ball flaring and reading the mids while being smooth on the back. Longer pin to pap will delay the reaction for shorter patterns. Depends on what you want the ball for.

I threw it at a demo with a typical demo layout, pin over bridge cg in palm. It rolled very smooth for me, I decided to drill mine similar...a touch weaker with the pin over the middle and cg in palm, and it was a little uncontrollable off the end of the pattern. I had to sand it down a bit to get it reading early enough, but it's much better now. Still, I wish I had put a stronger or earlier rolling layout on it. I'd say go with your favorite benchmark/control layout and you won't be disappointed.
