I've often been told that this ball was a wolf in sheeps clothing. Not paying too much attention ( and not having too much luck with Storm in the past), I tried other entry level balls from different companies, never getting around to the Tropical.
Then, last Thursday night, a right-handed friend of mine did something totally amazing and unexpected. Tired of struggling with traditional right hand drillings, he picks up a teammates LEFT-HANDED Tropical and proceeds to strike at will, coming up only an open away from his first 800 series, shooting 766. He said he threw it the week before ( I was out and didn't see it) and shot 680 with it.
The pin is in his ball track even with the finger holes, with the cg on the negative side of his grip under the middle finger, but there is no x-hole.
Is this ball really this good? Or, was it just one of those feakish things that happens sometimes? The shot was out normal THS ( which is decent volume ), thing is, he usually has to chase the shot all night, but Thursday he NEVER moved! Not once. His shot stayed exactly the same all night long.
The ball appeared to be as smooth and predictable as the old urethane ball I was using, but the difference was in the hit. I hit the pocket just as often, but you could both see, and hear, the difference.
He's averaging over 240 with this "odd" thing. C'mon, REALLY this good?
