Title: Pro Shop Price - Gravity Shift
Post by: Bowlin for Beer on May 26, 2008, 02:58:23 PM
I want to support my local pro shop but I'm curious...
How much are the Gravity Shifts going for in your town ?

Here, they're going for $259.
That's with drilling, grips and slug of course, but plus tax is around $280.

If the pro shop prices are getting out of hand, I'm going to have to purchase online.

local proshops here charge 185 drilled. 10 dollars extra for grips, 15 for a slug. 35 if you didn't buy the ball from them.

A league bowler would be able to buy a Gravity Shift from us for around $220 after tax, grips, and slug.

i know of one place that its $185.00 incl drilling, grips and slugs.

but it is amazing how a shop can charge anywhere from $5-$10 a slug, when you know it probably costs them $2.00 each if that cause they buy in bulk, and the same goes for the grips.  talk about a mark up, but yet they can't take the time to do quality plug work. hmmm.

i even heard of some places that charge $5.00 if not more just to polish or dull your ball.

now i know why i have a spinner.  one of the best investments i ever made.

One local guy has it for $210 drilled, the other has it for $239 drilled.  I tend to stick with online purchases for the more expensive equipment.

Save yourself some money and start getting the molds of your thumb done by buddies pro shop...just send them the ball, and it's like a xerox copier everytime you get a new ball. Save a heck of a lot of money to, and they service you get is amazing.

We've been doing the mold thing now for at least 5 years, bowlers love them and they get the same fit every time. Only problem ( if you want to call it a problem) is now with as many balls we drill we have to keep in stock everybodys thumb mold

229.95 plus grips and slug but through the end of May you get 30 percent back on a rewards card so that is 69.00 alone on the ball i think grips are 12 and thumb slug 12.00.

So here is what the true cost is at K & K Bowling Services here is in Las Vegas.

229.95
 12.00
 12.00
------
253.95 plus tax roughly
-76.18 on your rewards card
------
177.77 real cost can you see why buying online is pretty stupid for me, unless a closeout or auction nobody bids on.

These guys are top notch and this deal goes for all Storm,Brunswick and Columbia through may 31st. There rewards program is running year around forget Buddies Pro shop they do not touch these guys period.

Nobody including Buddies runs a program like it and that is why they are growing like crazy, you can setup and buy from them online.

bowlinglasvegas.com to see more info on the rewards program, you will pay full price once and then everything after that carries rewards from 10-20 percent on average.

I agree that proshops have to make money, but the price you quoted is gouging (IMO).  We sell them for $199 +tax with fitting/layout/drilling/grips included.  An extra $10 for a thumb slug.

I guess with my pro shop guy that loyalty counts.  He just sold me a Gravity Shift for 190 cash out the door, grips and slug included.  And for what it's worth, he's in NY suburbs.  I've been going to him for the better part of 8 years and do 2-3 balls per year, so maybe he takes better care of me than most.

And, as far as "me the consumer", I wouldn't trade his expertise for the world.
