PSA in the CG on a Storm Marvel Pearl
« on: August 22, 2013, 03:23:04 PM »
Just received my Marvel Pearl. 3.5 inch pin to cg 3.39 top, with the PSA x mark inside the cg marker. I thought it odd that a symmetric would have a PSA. But since it does, it would seem to me that it the mb should not be in the cg.

Is this ball a blem.

Thanks

sounds mismarked which would make it a blem. you are right that syms would not have a MB/PSA, post drilling would be the thumb hole or close to it. storm usually marks their MBs with a lightning bolt though

The drill sheet says that they mark the psa on symmetric balls with an X.  I thought that before drilling the psa would be 63/4 inches from the pin.

i have never read a storm drill sheet but i have never seen a storm symetrical ball with an x anywhere on it. you are right the theoretical mass bias on a symmetrical is 6 3/4" from the pin but after drilling that point has negligible effect on ball reaction. the thumb hole becomes the PSA or within a half inch, unless an extra hole is added. you can find the true psa of a drill symmetrical ball by using a determinator

Any ball that I've ever got in the shop with an X was a blem or X-out ball! That's how if you have a problem with it they can tell if it's a blem or not! Not unless they have just changed the drill sheets, I've never seen one that shows the X as the PSA or MB on a symmetrical ball! Just my $.02, Bruce

Here's the drill sheet from Storm's website! The X that it shows for the PSA is marked on the sheet with an X and it's 6-3/4" from the pin through the cg! That doesn't mean the actual ball will have an X, if it does, then I'd suspect a blem or X-out ball!

I just looked at my stuff and they almost all have a very small (x) in the CG.  These include:

Marvel S
Hyroad Pearl
Lights Out
Super Natural

I don't believe it has anything to do with PSA, it may just be a factory marking of some sort.  All of these balls were bought first quality from a distributor or received from my VIP program with Storm

Ok. The x is in the cg circle. Evidently the cg was is just mis-marked.
