My son is looking for a new ball. He loves his T-ROAD and I recently gave him my PYRO and he loves that as well. But he is looking at the SHIFT and I am wondering if that would be a good ball for him.

His speed is right around 15mph, stands 20 and throws 10. He is looking for something that is stronger then his T-ROAD and PYRO. Due to his speed going up, both balls are breaking late and coming in behind the pocket. He does adjust when this happens, but I think he just wants to get a new ball for his new league he has started. Guess I am raising a ball junkie...

But would the shift work or is there another Storm ball that would work better?

The shift does have a pearl particle coverstock and a new core and should be a small step up from the Pyro.

Though I would look at a Special Agent as it will be less snappy by nature and should be able to grab with the speed dominance (Dull solid reactive). I have noticed my Shift is very touchy to speed but most asymmetrical balls are for me and the Special is much less touchy for me and a better Medium Heavy oil ball than my shift, though from users reports on the boards I am the minority.

I do think that either ball will work but the Shift may require a small coverstock prep change.

The T-ROAD and PYRO are not the only balls that he has. For heavier conditions, he has a STRIKE ZONE. He really does not like the SZ, but it does work.

But looking at the Special Agent, I think that would be a really good ball. Persoanlly I am a Brunswick/Morich person. But my son realyl seems to like STORM. I am not going to try to get him to change anything. He knows what he likes and nothing DAD says is going to change his mind. LOL

Well you can't go wrong with a Special Agent really.  That ball does certainly rule.

A Shift I believe is in fact stronger than a T-Road Pearl.  I got to throw both of those at the open house and the T-Road seemed like a pretty strong ball to me.  The Shift on the other hand did seem to hook more.  The Shift even though it hooked noticeably more (and kept going all the way through the pins) seemed very controllable to me which I liked.  I guess it's the shape of the reaction and the way it was set up.  Also, I think the R2S coverstock is definitely the way to go now.

On a fresher heavier shot where the backends aren't flying, I do like the Special Agent because it is very smooth.  I guess it depends on what type of situation he wants it for.  You definitely want some oil to be there for the Special Agent.

The Shift does seem to benefit from a little coverstock work.  Mine is adjusted and it doesn't seem to have the wet/dry type reaction any longer.
