Trauma's
« on: March 12, 2006, 02:21:43 AM »
How does the Trauma ER and the Trauma Recovery match up with the current line stuff.  I know quite a bit about all the X factors so comparisons with the retired x factors are also welcome.  I have read the retired ball sheets for each, and it seems as though the ER should be quite similar to the X factor deuce as it has similar core numbers and the same cover, solid accu tread.  The recovery is more of a mystery to me, having never thrown a ball with that cover, Pro thane MT pearl particle.  How strong is the Pro thane base as compared with the EOX, Monsoon, Typhoon, accutread, pro glide, or curelyon.

Pro-Thane is based on Accu-Tread; thze particle versions are smoother than the reactive ones, grabbing earlier. The LT version is very similar to the pure Accu-Tread, but it has more traction and grabs the lane about 4-5' earlier. Nice stuff, although medium strength at best by today's standards.

I would like to add to Dizzyfugu's last comment 'medium strength by today's standards'.  In general that is the case with every next generation ball from Storm and all the other ball manufacturers for that matter.  The original X-Factor was stronger than the Trauma, The Triple X-Factor is a little stronger than the X-Factor, The Paradigm is stronger than the Triple X.  So, when comparing a 5 year old ball against current equipment I'd be looking at current mid-level balls - not necessarily the higher end stuff.  I would compare a Trauma ER with a Diablo... not a Vertigo or Passion.

As far as the coverstocks are concerned EOX, SFA, Monsoon, and Reactor are all stronger than Accu-Tread / Pro-Thane IMO - but with slightly different overall reactions.

If it is your intent to find similar reactions to the Trauma balls I'd look at the Fire Line (Fired Up, Diablo, Pyro) with the expectation that you will get a stronger backend with Reactor than Accu-Tread.  If you are looking at the current lineup of X-Factor / Paradigm balls expect earlier read and more overall hook.
