question about finish on hot rod pro stock
« on: August 02, 2006, 02:39:44 PM »
I just bought a hot rod pro stock. The box and storm's site state the finish is 800 grit matte but a few sites state 1500 grit polish. the ball is definitely a high gloss finish. what's the deal?

I believe there where two Storm Hot Rod Pro Stock's.  One was solid and the other one was a Pearl version.  Thus the 800 vs the 1500 grit.

Pro Stock solid = Red and Black color (a fellow on my team has one)

Pro Stock Pearl = Greenish Blue Silver (kind of aqua?)(I've got this ball)

Yep, this site has the wrong info for the ball finish for the Hot Rod Pro Stock Solid.  Good thing Storm archives the senior bowling balls.

what i am saying is that my hotrod pro stock solid is not matte finish and it isn't the first one i have seen this way. it looks just as polished as the pyro my teammate throws. i have a vertigo and a trifecta both are 800 matte, the pro stock is not

AOK, I got ya, I think they applied some polish to the ball.
New, Out of box condition would be matte finish.  Easy to change the coverstock and buy some polish and shine the ball up.  That could be what your seeing.

My team member also shined his up to 2000 grit with the use of abralon pads and polish.  It's shiny and probably slides an extra 6-7 feet down the lanes and packs a lot energy on the backend.
