Question about the Recharge vs. the Tour Power
« on: November 03, 2004, 06:55:39 AM »
A while back there was a post in which someone wrote about the way he drilled his Recharge.  One of the replies (from a Storm staffer I believe) indicated that the chosen drill pattern would give a Tour Power type reaction.

Well, I have a friend who LOVES his Tour Power and cannot find a 15# NIB.  I mentioned that I had seen this post and he was very interested.  Unfortunately, I cannot remember the specifics of the post or even who the posters were.  I have searched for about 45 minutes to no avail.

Does anyone out there remember the post I am referring to or know who the posters were?  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Can hardly imagine a Recharge acting like a Tour Power without unusual drilling and/or surface changes!

Try am AMF Valor/P Tour if you want to emulate a Tour Power. For my money it's the closest; possibly even a Super Trooper with a slight surface modification (Sand or nylon-pad to 1000-1200 grit)

The Hot Wire's specs comes closer to the Tour Power's, but there was still something special about the TP that had people raving about it especially its control. Most people polished the HW. I think most people like(d) their HW, with some people loving it. I have not had a chance to compare them.

FYI, Storm forever misquoted the TP's RG differential as being much higher than it actually was. They only corrected it towards the end of its lifecycle. I believe it was fairly low, like in the .020-.025 range.

The Tour Power was Storm's red Pulse; the original, not the re-issue. The original was a control ball; the re-issue was almost an oiler.

I have a Flash Force that reacts for me similiar to my Tour Powers just a slight bit more angular on the back but still has the control I was looking for. Also my Hot Wires are also very awesome but are getting harder to find NIB also. But they too are much more skid/snap compared to my TP.

The Atomic Charge that is coming out may be real close to the TP as well with some tweaking of the cover and layout. Will have to wait and see when the balls show up.

I love my Tour Power and for the past year have been looking for its replacement.  It's not by anymeans dead but in the case that it eventually dies I would like to have a worthy replacement.  My pro-shop guy was saying that a Roto-Grip Rush would be a close fit, he also suggested a Razor Wire or an V2 Sweet.

I thank you in advance.  You all are very helpful!!!
