I've always wondered why Storm phased this coverstock out after using it on just a few balls. I know it was on both the Eraser Blaze and Boost, and I thought it was on the Core Power HRG, but I'm not sure. Nevertheless, why did this coverstock come and go after such a short run?
From what I saw in my area, the Blaze was immensely popular. It seemed you couldn't go to a single tournament without seeing at least 10-20 guys with them on the rack or in the bag. The Boost didn't seem to get as much play, but everyone that I know who had one, myself included, really like it a lot.
With that said, why was this coverstock abandoned so quickly? Did the formulation get tweaked into something different under a new name, or was the whole mixture just canned? I've always wondered why this stock went away so quickly. Don't get me wrong; Storm has made plenty of other great covers. I'm just wondering why this one, which seemed so popular, fell by the wayside so quickly. Does anyone know what happened?
Incidentally, I love the used Blaze that I recently picked up. Drilled with the pin under ring, cg stacked with some light shine, the ball is money on transition. It clears the heads with ease before getting into the smoothest arc you've ever seen on the backend. Once it hits the hole, that nasty-strong PBT core takes care of the rest. If you can still find a Blaze, pick it up and lock it away. It's just as good now as it was when it was first released!
