Question on Fear Factor Stacked leverage drilling
« on: November 24, 2003, 12:08:15 AM »
I'm confused if my driller is right on drilling my fear factor.I asked him to drill it 3 3/8 stacked leverage, so he did drill it 3 3/8 12:00 position Pin & CG from Pap. What I heard from other people that if the ball has a Mass Bias locator or in Fear Factor is the "Rad", then you should align the "the Pin & the RAD" at 12:00 position & don't bother where the CG would be. Is this true, 'coz the Rad position on my ball is not aligned at all with the pin & CG & the RAD is more on the left side of the thumb hole, so does this mean that I ended up having it drilled as label leverage & not stacked?
I appreciate any comments.

It's drilled like this, so you guys get an idea on what my question is.

F-Holes--O O
-------------(Pin)
-----------------3 3/8Pap
-------------(CG)
T-Hole----O

----(Rad)

Thanks,

Not sure without seeing it, but sounds like it was drilled leverage with the mass bias in the track flare. I spoke to Storm at the Northeast regional and they recommended drilling the ball stacked leverage. My proshop pro disagreed and stated he thought the ball should be drilled leverage with mass bias in the track flare. I agreed with his point of view. I don't have a frame of reference because I don't have one drilled stacked but this ball goes down the lane great and rips up the backend. I thought it would go into a roll too early and roll out, but it has plenty of length and plenty of strength at the pin deck. My ball was almost a 4" pin. But from what I have read, this is normal for this ball. Will go long if you have enough oil.

Triple X,

Pretty much the "the other people" are correct.  What they said holds true on any ball.  Where you put the pin in relation to your axis point determines the length of the ball.  3 3/8" is considered the leverage point, or where the weight block is at its most dynamic imbalance.

Where you put the mass bias determines the motion of the hook.

Don't want to sound rude, but it sounds like your ball is drilled fine, and at your present skill level, adjusting the surface is all you need to do.  More shine for length, less shine for early hook.
