Your thoughts Special Agent and the Gravity shift
« on: September 01, 2008, 07:16:27 AM »
What are your thoughts on the two balls mentioned in the title? You guys know I don't throw any Storm and I haven't tried one since the Vertigo but the new Cores have been catching my attention.

What do you like and dislike about the two, also I heard their is a new Shift coming anyone have info?

My Special Agent was my go-to ball for ages, but I have since replaced it with the Dimension.  I've only had the ball for a couple weeks now, but absolutely love it.  It's like a Special Agent on steroids, a slightly more angular version of the Cell.  Absolutely amazing ball.  The Special Agent is great too, but the Dimension just takes everything I liked about the Special Agent and improves upon it.

I bought a used Gravity Shift from a friend and have only thrown about one game with it so far, so I don't have much to say about it yet.  The one game I did throw it, the lanes had gotten absolutely trashed outside and I had the worst over/under look I've seen in ages (I had less room to miss than on a fresh PBA pattern!) with any equipment, so I can't really judge much off that.

I own a gravity shift and for me its the strongest backend ball I have seen bar none. The amount of boards I can cover on the backend is just wicked. I have a couple hundred games on it so its toned down a tad now where I can rip on it but before If I came around it hard it was hularious I had to be real nice at release or since I am left handed the ball looked like it was going into the gutter and as soon as it saw dry immediately take a right turn at an angle I have never seen and I own total nv nsanelevrg levrg fury pearl lots of strong pieces but nothing like this.

I have the Special Agent.  It is drilled pin under ring finger with the CG stacked below.  I have used it at 1000 Abralon.  At that surface, it wasn't the oiler I thought it would be.  Also, I was expecting an even, early roll with the layout that I used.  The ball had a lot of length and a lot of backend.  With this layout and surface prep, I was really surprised.  No knock on the ball, as it was very predictable and worked great on the longer PBA patterns.  I haven't tried it polished, but I may do so.  Hope this helps some.
