R2S Hybrid Cover
« on: December 14, 2011, 03:49:16 AM »
I drilled many Hyroads when I was running/working in a proshop.  I was always impressed by the downlane move of that ball.  Now, I've drilled myself a frantic and have found I really like the response to friction I see.

With that said, how much does the response to friction change once the cover is sanded?  I'm interested to hear about how the Reign Supreme, for example, would handle medium to heavy volumes at 1000 abralon.  I'd like to know one would still see the quick response to friction, but the ability to handle more volume than the frantic.

My Frantic was a liitle more than I wanted at the backend, but we had plenty of midlane oil. So I sanded it to P1000 grit and then applied a medium-light dose of Snake Oil. It was just that touch earlier and small touch less backend, all in all, just barely noticeable, but just what I wanted. The ball still had plenty of drive.

Good thing because that night the outside was extra dry and I had to keep the ball inside of 10 most of the night. That P1000 grit underlayment gave it just enough extra to come off the backend of a good amount of inside oil.
